We continued our remodeling projects this weekend. We’ve finished two of the bedroom floors – just the hallway and our bedroom left, although the hallway will take quite a while since it has so many doorways and angles to go around. The flooring process is much faster in a big square room – but soon enough we’ll be into our bedroom and it will start going faster again. We might be able to finish by the end of this coming weekend. It will be nice to be able to get all of our stuff back where it belongs. Right now the box springs and bed frame from our guest room are in our bedroom at the end of our bed, and require some gymnastics to maneuver around.
We decided to reward ourselves with nice rugs once this whole project is finished. We’re going to go with hemp rugs, which I’m excited about. Hemp is about as eco-friendly and sustainable as it gets, so it’s an industry that we’re happy to support. It’s durable, gets better with age, and we’ll be able to take the rugs outside and hose them down when they get dirty. We’re going to get a couple for our bedroom and one big one for our dining room. I suppose they’ll be more expensive than the last rug I got – but I dumpster dived for that one…

I’m catching up on your progress here…I assume you are putting down wood flooring? That’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but assumed I didn’t have the expertise to do it.

I feel your pain. We’re putting in wood laminate, too, and everything is in disarray. Couches are in bedrooms and we can barely walk into the kitchen! It’s looking so great, though, that I know it’s worth the effort.

Frugal Dad, we’re putting in laminate flooring that looks like wood. It’s boards about 8 inches wide and four feet long that click together with tongue and groove joins, so it’s relatively easy to do.
