It’s Monday morning and I’m just getting to my Sunday round up. I think that makes it a Monday round up. We had a good productive weekend, but I barely touched the computer since Friday, other than to play music while I did house work. so I’m catching up now, and wanted to share some good stuff from the Frugal Blog Network and beyond…
Almost Frugal has a post about looking great on a budget. I especially like the part about only buying clothes that are machine washable. I’ve extended that to just about everything – rugs, curtains, placemats… I don’t want anything that I have to take to the cleaners. And we got rid of all of our carpets primarily because it’s so much easier to keep hard floors clean.
Frugal Zeitgeist will inspire you with her plans for giving back this holiday season. And she’s getting other people involved in it too, which makes it even better.
Tight Fisted Miser works out the details of a $500/month retirement budget. We’re working hard to pay off our house before we’re 40. That’s the biggest chunk of our expenses right now, and getting rid of it would make a low retirement budget very possible for us.
The Frugal Duchess gives some good reasons for why she still hasn’t bought her dream house. Which happens to cost $2.6 million. I suppose I’d still be waiting too…
Not Made Of Money writes about setting goals for 2009. We set goals for 2008 last December, and they were very helpful in guiding our spending and saving this year. It was great to have them written down so that we could reference them and check our progress frequently. We will be doing the same thing next month for 2009.
And I’ll leave you with a contest for anyone who likes football (or even just a good party)…
You can win four tickets to the Rose Bowl, including airfare and hotel. You can enter daily until Dec 7th. Good luck!
